Zionist Camp
Begun in 2002, this decade-long project attempted to unpack elements of my own history as a student and consumer of the Zionist Narrative. Based on graphic art posters from the first half of the 20th Century, these reinterpretations are a dialogue with the mythologies of my youth and raise questions regrading the Zionist project, specifically concerning gender and queernes. It is a way for me to reflect upon and find elements of myself that are absent in the narratives, to situate myself in a dream that became so central to my identity. I am fascinated by art that has been enlisted for the service of an ideology, by the power of art to communicate and influence. This too is explored in these works.
